Today residents of Yerevan organized a picket near one of the 100-year-old buildings situated in the Abovyav Street. Once the building ¼ was a dwelling house, its residents received compensations and left. They have no complaints, but the residents of the capital city are concerned over the fate of the architectural monuments.

In their words, the officials have deliberately excluded the house from the list of monuments in order to pull it down and build a block of flats that will resemble a box of matches. However the head of the project department for implementation of North Avenue program Gagik Martirosyan assured that the city administration already intervened to re-include the house into the list of monuments. Head of the Agency for monument protection Karo Ayvazyan that the building was excluded from the list by a technical mistake which will be corrected.

While the meeting was going on the workers were demounting the back side of house belonging to rich man Gabriel Gabrielyan last century and inhabited by the homeless nowadays.

The picketers marched to the government building, handed leaflets and a letter and also stuck posters at the walls.
