The Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance (International IDEA)
intergovernmental organization attaches major importance to enhancement of
democratic political participation. For this purpose International IDEA's Office
in Armenia initiates and supports 6 public forums, which will be organized in
December 2006

in Yerevan, Armavir, Aboyan and Hrazdan.

The topic of the public forums is

“Electoral mechanisms in Armenia: how to make a tight choice and vote for the
right candidate or political party, as responsible and engaged citizens and
community members”.

How to elect and on what principles to base one's choice? …Make a conscious
decision to vote or not to vote in elections… Make a decision and be involved in
building the future of Armenia, as engaged citizens of a democratic country.

The participants of these forums will have the opportunity to discuss and find
out the answers to the abovementioned questions, to study the role of electoral
mechanisms in formation of the government and in building of a democratic
statehood, as well as the methods of public monitoring of the government. The
forums will provide an opportunity to better understand the bases of democratic
and constitutional culture. Participants will conduct mock elections with legal
criteria, and will then discuss the results of this practice.

The following people are invited to register and participate

Citizens of the Republic of Armenia having the right to vote, women and men
from the capital and marzes (regions) of Armenia, from various social classes
and strata, different professions, as well as students.



The duration of each public forum will be 4,5 hours. The events will be
organized with the following schedule

- Yerevan, 9 and 15 December 2006, at 15:00 – 19:30

- Hrazdan, 11 December 2006, at 12:00 – 16:30

- Abovyan, 12 December 2006, at 12:00 – 16:30

- Armavir, 13 and 16 December 2006, at 12:00 – 16:30
