The Elder Knows Better Than the Young One

11 December 2005

Razmik Sargsyan, who has been sentenced to 15 years of imprisonment and has gone
out on a 110 day hunger strike, has become an experimental marionette for the
Nubarashen police department, judges and doctors. Yesterday, we witnessed how
doctors were examining Razmik at the Nubarashen police department. There were
independent doctors and doctors from the police department present. The head of
the police department had called professor and head of the Medical University
Edward Nazaretyan to the examination. In contrast to independent doctors, the
professor evaluated the hunger striker’s health as satisfactory. We later found
out that Professor Nazaretyan was a friend of military prosecutor of Armenia
Gagik Jhangiryan. But after a long examination, head of the clinic and therapist
M. Harutyunyan claimed that Razmik had to be transferred to the hospital. The
professor did not like this conclusion made by the independent doctor; that is
why he contradicted him: “Are you teaching me? I taught you medicinal science.
How are you explaining things when I taught you differently?”
