Government Violates Ombudsman's Rights

Today the RA Ombudsman Larissa Alaverdyan had a new reason to complain of the RA Government. The budget fails to allot the stipulated sum to the Ombudsman's administration for the second year already.

Larissa Alaverdyan announces that the Government did not want to support the Ombudsman's office. Taking into account the fact that the Ombudsman receives complaints mainly from several regions, she finds it necessary to have representatives in Shirak, Syunik, Gegharqouniq, and Tavoush regions. The program however will not be realized as the budget will not allot enough money to pay those representatives. The RA Minister of Finance Vardan Khachatryan said, «No one says you do not need it. Simply the Government did not find it appropriate now».

Besides, it is not yet known when the permanent office of the Ombudsman will be built. At present the budget allots 20 million AMD in order to rent a building, but the building is not guarded properly because of the shortage of financial means.

By the way, according to Larissa Alaverdyan this year the complaints she receives have been added by 14-15%.
