Workshop: Armenia’s security environment, the existing challenges, and ways to overcome them.

Within the framework of the programme “Engaging Armenian society and the government in shaping an agenda for a secure region”, another meeting took place on October 27 at the Civic Youth Centre between civil society representatives from the communities of Berd, Ijevan and Armavir. Members of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia Maria Karapetyan and Lilit Minasyan were also invited to the meeting.

In the first part of the meeting, participants discussed Armenia’s security environment, the existing challenges and ways to overcome them, Armenia’s foreign and regional policies, and the prospects for peace in the South Caucasus. Participants had the opportunity to voice their views and receive answers to questions of concern to them.

The second part of the meeting was dedicated to the issues facing Artsakh Armenians. During the discussion, we tried to understand what Armenia’s civil society can do.

The programme “Engaging Armenian society and the government in shaping an agenda for a secure region” is implemented by the Caucasus Institute in cooperation with the Civil Society Institute, the Regional Studies Center, the Center for Political and Economic Strategic Studies, and the Civilitas Foundation. The programme is funded by the UK government’s Conflict, Stability and Security.
