Legitimacy of pre-election process is threatened

On May 11, 2009 at Avan district of Yerevan city women from Armenian National Congress opposition party were beaten, while distributing leaflets informing on May 13th pre-election meeting. They were chased, attacked, and thrown stones. Three women were taken to hospital as they were injured.

This case is not the first one. In April, 2009 reports were made about at least 2 attacks on representatives of opposition parties.

These incidents threaten the legitimacy of pre-election, and election processes and contribute to indeepening of non-tolerant atmosphere, which is even more impermissible at pre-election period.
