The case of the editor of «Regnum» news agency is under the trial, no charges are brought against the prosecutor

The preliminary investigation of the case on quarrel occurred between the editor of the Regnum news agency's Armenian branch Ruben Grdzelyan and the employee of the Prosecutor's Office Mesrop Manrikyan is completed. On July 12 the criminal case with indictment was sent to the Court of General Jurisdiction of Erebuni and Nubarashen administrative districts. This was reported to www.hra.am from the Special Investigation Service (SIS).
In the criminal case the charges were brought against two persons. Mesrop Manrikyan’s son Albert Manrikyan was charged under the Article 177 of the RA Criminal Code for infliction of willful light damage to the health of Ruben Grdzelyan. Ruben Grdzelyan is charged with the same article for inflicting light damage to Mesrop Manrikyan’s health.
The infliction of willful light damage to health is punishable with a fine in the amount of 50 000 to 100 000 AMD or arrest for the term of up to 2 months.
The decision was made not to charge the prosecutor Mesrop Manrikyan due to the absence of corpus delicti in his actions.
In relation of both of the accused a preventive measure of a written obligation not to leave a place was applied.
To remind, on May 12 the editor of the “Regnum” Yerevan Office has submitted a communication to the police on the fact of being beaten by four people around 11 pm. Prosecutor Manrikyan and his son were among them. He also indicated that a quarrel occur on everyday life matter and has no links to his professional activity.
