Caucasus Day in Yerevan

On February 11 of 2012 an event titled "The day of the Caucasus" dedicated to spreading the concept of peace and establishment of an intercultural dialogue between the youth of the South Caucasus region. The event took place in the office of Civil Society Institute NGO.

During the event an exhibition of the dishes of traditional Caucasian cuisine (from Armenia, Georgia, Ossetia, Abkhazia, Azerbaijan and Nagorno Kharabakh), puppets dressed in national costume and hand-made works. At the same time were exhibited the photos picturing Yerevan, Baku and Stepanakert.

A joint website was created as a bridge of cooperation, which also has to serve as a means of spreading the concepts of peace, mutual recognition and intercultural communication.

During the event the pictures of the children from the school of Chambarak were exhibited named Peace from the children's perspective.

Concluding part was the launching of 50 colorful balloons from the Abovyan Park of Yerevan wishing "Peace to the World". Barbeque party was organized for the participants. They prepared a famous Caucasian food by themselves in the friendly environment and under the Caucasian music.

The event was organized by the efforts of the Peacebuilding school graduates, the support of International Alert British organization and Civil Society Institute NGO with the financial support of U.S. Department of State.

At the same time Caucasus Day was organized in Kharabakh and Azerbaijan.
