Husband Who Beat to Death His Wife Seeks for Extenuating Circumstances

Yanis Sarkisov who beat to death his wife Zaruhy Petrosyan has applied for acknowledgement of paternity for his daughter Lilia. Gor Margaryan, attorney of Zaruhy Petrosyan's legal successor Hasmik Petrosyan, informed hra.am about that.

"The existence of a minor in the criminal case is an extenuating circumstance and naturally affects infliction of punishment," the attorney says.

Zaruhy Petrosyan's sister, Hasmik Petrosyan, also intends to apply to the Masis town municipality for the guardianship of her niece. "The municipality will make a decision on guardianship taking into consideration relative advantages of the parties - their income, housing conditions, conditions provided for the child's care," Gor Margaryan says.

According to the representative of Zaruhy Petrosyan's legal successor, in this regard Hasmik's positions are weaker because she lives in a house without a renting contract that could become an obstacle.

"In other respects, in my opinion, it will be better to award the guardianship to Hasmik because she can provide to some extent mother care which cannot be said about Yanis and his mother," the attorney concluded.
