Violations and Voter Lists Mar Otherwise Peaceful Election-Day

On September 25, 2005 in the Yerevan communities of Arabkir and Kentron, It's Your Choice
election monitors observed local elections for community heads and councils in
101 precincts in territorial election districts 9 and 4. Monitors observed the
activities of PECs, electoral procedures, and the environment inside and outside
the polling-stations.

No Election Without Violation

Contrary to foreign observers Electoral Systems public organization has fixed
various violations during the election held in Kentron and Arabkir.

The observers visited 12 out of 49 polling stations of Arabkir community and 7
out of 54 polling stations of Kentron community. In Arabkir the observers fixed
violations such as group voting, refusal to accept complaints, propaganda
attempts. Similar violations were observed in Kentron community.

The observing group of the Electoral Systems will issue the final report within
a month upon completion of the election to the local self-government.

Human Rights Defender's Statement on Inadmissibility of Raising Tariff for
Telephone Communications

Recently it became well-known that telecommunication company “Armentel” applied
to the Government of the Republic of Armenia with a request to provide with new
tariffs for the city telecommunication with anticipated raised prices of the
latest.
