A1+ Action Started

On April 2 an action demanding open, transparent and public tender for
free frequencies started at the building of A1+ TV Company.

The collection of signatures for conduction a tender for frequencies has started
and will last 10 days.

They Will Not Carry Out a Revolution

This is not orange but apricot color, and apricot color is a specifically
Armenian symbol; the representatives of the newly created National League for
the Armenian Independence in answer to the question why they wear orange
ribbons.

In the journalist house the creation of the new League was made public today. It
«has decided to unite those for whom the Armenian Independence is the most
important aim». 12 people, as, for example, politologists Stepan Grigoryan and
Stepan Safaryan, Artak Zeynalyan, member of the political council of the
Republican party, convened a meeting a month ago and founded the leagues.

According to Stepan Safaryan, they will invite the public attention to the steps
taken by the government which will jeopardize the democracy in Armenia. Stepan
Grigoryan announced that they do not solve problems, they raise them. The aim of
the League is to activate the public participation in the Governing process.

By the way, while registering into the League, one must accept the following
condition, “The members are forbidden to preach in profit of this or that
political party or its leader on behalf of the League”. In that case they will
be sacked from the League. Nevertheless, the members of the League can
participate in the elections by themselves.

Barbarians in Yerevan

«It is not a secret for us that in our city trees are constantly being cut. And
all this is done before the eye of the people. We found a terrible scene near
the hotel «Golden Palace» which is being built near the Victory Park. The
sycamores of the pavement which could still live up to 65 years were cat, and
several poplars which were really object of cutting slipped the eye of the
cutters.

It is obvious that this is done on purpose with the aim of destroying the little
left green area in our city. We call to you to stop this criminal attitude
towards our city», this was the letter of Silva Adamyan, head of the
non-governmental organization «Center of Bird-lovers». At the end of the letter,
bringing as witness the photos sent by her, Silva Adamyan calls us to witness
this «barbarian attitude».

Embattled Editor Reports Another Attack

The editor of a newspaper in southeastern Armenia whose offices were allegedly
ransacked by pro-government youths last October reported on Friday an arson
attack on his car, alleging that it was ordered by the controversial local
governor.

Samvel Aleksanian of the “Syuniats Yerkir” weekly based in Kapan, the
administrative center of the Syunik region, said his Russian-made four-wheel
drive burst into flames early in the morning and burned completely by the time
firefighters arrived at the scene. He said the car was parked in the courtyard
of his house in Goris, another major regional town.
