NON-GOVERNMENTAL ORGANIZATION
OUR MISSION IS NOT OVER
Once again A1+ TV Company was denied broadcasting frequency on the whim of
the authorities. Apparently poor programs of the company rivals were given
higher marks at the tender than A1+, which submitted well-grounded program of
high quality.
The
company president Mesrop Movsessyan isn’t driven to desperation and doesn’t feel
upset. He thinks Robert Kocharyan put the A1+ stuff to an endurance test. “We
have a robust nervous system unlike those who put us to that thest”, he says.
Mr. Movsessyan, was Radio and Television National Commission’s decision
unexpected to you?
That sort of decisions could be anticipated as I acknowledge very well whom I
deal with. Such a kind of whim is common in our country and if this disease
isn’t cured, we’ll face grave problems. Today I worry about my children. In what
country will they live? Our perceptions of the country where we live are changed
day by day. Money is most important here. It means the company should sell
itself to somebody before starting functioning and serve interests of somebody
who’ll pay more money.
Are there people in Armenia who believe that it is possible to work
without being sold?
A1+ is a good example of that. The company has been working independently for
12 years, unlike many companies that had been closed and forgotten. We don’t
care about temporary phenomena and temporary persons. The only our worry is our
future.
Do you think the president to take his revenge against you. I mean you and
A1+' journalists rejected Robert Kocharyan’s proposal to meet with him.
I became sure that Robert Kocharyan doesn’t like his people, as A1+ staff
constitutes a particle of the people, and treating them with such a cynicism
means not to understand or like them.
What will happen to A1+ TV Company? Will the issue be over?
Of course, not. Sooner or later we will broadcast. As to the staff, it isn’t
a slave of this situation. The staff goes about its business and has its
expectations. By the way, the company is more optimistic either about our
country or our people than Armenia’s leadership.
Let’s wait for clever leadership and better days.
I would say not to wait but to cure. Our mission is not over yet and nobody
can decide it instead of us. Our objective is to stop evil with united efforts
of all healthy forces.
