“Their reaction was not adequate. I assume that they, to put it softly, were not in sober state, because in this situation, it should not be such a reaction, if you think reasonably. But they did not think reasonably at that moment,”RoubenGrdzelyan characterized the four persons who had beat him.

In conversation with hra.am he confirmed, that the incident happened as a result of dispute of domestic nature and was not linked to his professional activities.

Let us remind that on 12th of May, about 23:00, in the yard of House No.36 on Tigran Mets St. in Yerevan, a dispute began between Rouben Grdzelyan and Mesrop Manrikyan, Prosecutor in supervision of prosecutor’s legality in Kotayk marz of RA.

Grdzelyan was with his mother, wife, son and nephew. The children were a little ahead of them and for a moment closed the way to the car, which was moving from the yard to the road, and prosecutor Manrikyan was seeing off that car.

“The car stopped for a moment, the children headed aside, and then the car moved on. At that time Manrikyan said “do these bastards have a mother, where is their mother?” We, at this moment, became closer to them and I told “here is their mother, what happened?” He told me: “take control of your bastards”. I asked: “could you explain what happened?” He said: “Come, I’ll tell you”, and stroke me. And then the scuffle started. In the car, which has left the yard, they noticed that something was going on. The car stopped and two people came out of the car and attacked me”, told Rouben Grzdelyan and added that he could not understand what had made Manrikyan so angry.

Right after the incident Rouben Grzdelyan appealed to the Erebuni Department of Police, declaring that he had been severely beaten by four people and had a medical examination afterwards.

Later on the General Prosecutor’s office of the RA sent preliminary materials to the Special Investigation Service.

www.hra.am was informed by the Special Investigative Service that no criminal case was opened, the materials were being prepared, and that the participants of the incident were called to give explanations.

Forensic medical examination of Rouben Grdzelyan and prosecutor Mesrop Manrikyan is appointed. The police areassigned to find out witnesses and other possible participants of the incident.

Grdzelyan has not yet given any clarifications to the Special Investigative Service. On the status of his health he said that he was slowly coming better, but still could not go to work.
