Discussion on “The role of human rights monitoring mechanisms in Armenia”

Human Rights Network, Penal Reform International (PRI), OSCE Office in Yerevan and “Partnership for Open Society” Initiative are pleased to invite to the discussion on “The role of human rights monitoring mechanisms in Armenia: problems and prospective of monitoring initiatives”.

The aim of the event is to raise and discuss human rights related issues at closed institutions, particularly at places of pre-trial detention and prisons; issues related to monitoring processes and possibilities of cooperation and coordination between the Ombudsman, NPM and monitoring groups.

The event will take place on November 18, 2011, from 09.30 to 16.00, at American University of Armenia Business Centre, (Alex Manoogian Street 9, Yerevan).

Representatives of civil society, international organizations, government officials and media have been invited to the event. Simultaneous translation from Armenian into English and vice versa will be provided.
