Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Probation Service of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Armenia and the Support for Probation National Network

As Armenpress reports, the Memorandum was signed by Arsen Navasardyan, Director of Probation Service and Artak Kirakosyan, Chairman of the Management Board of the Support for Probation National Network.

Navasardyan mentioned that, in essence, this is a memorandum of cooperation between the Probation Service and non-governmental organizations.

“Thus, it will be easier to support the Probation Service and to effectively address the challenges facing the organization. Our department is still in the stage of formation, and civil society support is very important for us,” Arsen Navasardyan said.

He expressed hope that this cooperation is another step towards promoting the formation and development of the service.

Artak Kirakosyan stressed that the Support for Probation National Network was created in the summer of 2018 and already includes about 10 non-governmental organizations.

“All the organizations that have a role in formation of the probation, are involved in our network. I believe that the Probation Service should be a community-based organization from the local self-governance level to the social service providers,” said the Chairman of the Network Management Board.

Kirakosyan underlined that before the signing of the memorandum, there was also expert assistance, logistical support, trainings, but in addition, a monitoring system will be introduced in the near future.

“Monitoring has two goals: to show the public how the Probation Service works and involve local organizations in the process of functioning. Thus, it will be possible to understand what the beneficiaries need and how they can help them,” Kirakosyan said.
