Tigran Mukuchyan as President of Central Electoral Commission

On 9th of September, the president of the Central Electoral Commission (CEC) Garegin Azaryan died as a result of heart attack. Since a new member was to be proposed and appointed within 21 days according to Electoral Code, on 16th of September, 2011 RA President Serj Sarkssyan with his decree appointed Tigran Mukuchyan as member of the Central Electoral Commission , taking into consideration the suggestion of appointment from the president of the RA Court of Appeal. The authority of Tigran Mukuchyan as the President of the Courts of Appeal was suspended on 15th of September.
On 19th of September member of CEC Tigran Mukuchyan was elected as CEC President. He was elected as President of CEC during the session of September 19th with 7 votes for and 0 votes against.
