On June 29 the corpse of the obligatory military term soldier Tigran Hambardzumyan was found in the nearby forest of the military point.

After finishing the second year of the International Department of Yerevan State University, Tigran Hambardzumyan was taken to the army with the aim of continuing the education later.

As Mary Sargsyan, the Public Relations Officer of Investigative Service of the Ministry of Defense explained, a criminal case was launched on the occasion of soldier Tigran Hambardzumyan's death based on article 110 part 1 of the Criminal Code, i.e. "driving the person to suicide or to the attempt of suicide with indirect intention or negligently".   

According to official announcement, Tigran Hambardzumyan was absent from the military point on June 28 from 18.30. "On that occasion materials were prepared, as well as searching activities started for finding Tigran Hambardzumyan. On June 29 at 13.15, Tigran Hambardzumyan's corpse was found in the nearest forest. On the place of crime razor was found, and on the left hand of the body, near the tilt of the elbow a huge wound was observed.

Tigran Hambardzumyan's parents are sure that the version of suicide was suggested to conceal the case. His father- Benik Hambardzumyan has fears that the investigation will show that there had been an incident which resulted into suicide.

The investigation of the case continues, however, no one is so far arrested.
