Will arrest as a preventive measure be chosen for ANC activist?
Tomorrow, on July 5th, 72 hour term of detention of Tigran Arakelyan, representative of youth wing of Armenian National Congress will be expired. Most likely investigative body will submit a motion on choosing arrest as a preventive measure. Attorney of Tigran Arakelyan Givi Hovhannisyan says that proposed accusation is groundless. However, knowing a working style of our courts and their obedience to the authorities there is no hope that preventive measure arrest will not be chosen to Arakelyan.
Tigran Arakelyan allegedly violated Part 3(2) of Article 258 of RA Criminal Code (Hooliganism) which is "offering resistance to a representative of authorities, or a person carrying out a duty of public order protection or a person preventing breach of public order" is punished a fine in the amount of up to 500 minimal salaries or with imprisonment for the term of up to 5 years. For alleged violation of the same article friends of Tigran Arakelyan Sahak Muradyan and Herbert Gevorgyan who participated in the crash of July 1 in the down town of Yerevan were recognized suspects. The latter were not detained because of being underage: In the first case written obligation not to leave a place was applied in he second case preventive measure was taking under supervision of parents.
