On January 26 “Legal Protection of the Journalists and the Necessity for Legislative Amendments” round table was held in Yerevan. It was organized by Internews Armenia public organization. The representatives of the media and journalistic organizations, participating in the discussion, signed an address to the deputies, deputy groups and factions of RA National Assembly. The document calls for a constructive approach to the initiative of the journalistic community on introducing amendments to the related legislation to strengthen legal protection of the journalists and to ensure their security in conducting professional activity. The point is about the necessity of amendments to RA Criminal and Criminal Procedure Codes, as well as RA Law “On Police”. The proposals for reforming these laws were developed by Internews Armenia and Yerevan Press Club.
