Photojournalism Competition Announcement
IFES, IREX, UNDP and the British Council are pleased to announce a
photojournalism competition aimed to increase awareness around the importance of
transparent and honest elections. Photojournalists are invited to submit their
works that meet the contest requirements and deliver the important messages of
fair elections. The specific subject of each of the competitions will be
announced every month. The winners will be determined by an independent panel of
judges.
The subject of the first competition is “Voter Registration in Armenia”.

Timeframe
On a monthly basis, starting from February the winning photos will be displayed
in the center of Yerevan on Abovyan Street next to the Armenian Society for
Friendship and Cultural Relations with Foreign Countries and the foyer of the UN
headquarter.
The competition will end May 3rd with all “photographs of the month” displayed
at the World Press Freedom Day exhibition.
Anyone meeting the following requirements may participate in the contest:
- Photos may not be politically affiliated
- The photograph must be published in a print or electronic media, and a copy or
a screenshot must be submitted together with the images. - The photographs must be made on the territory of Republic of Armenia and date
no earlier than the start of this contest - The photographs must be submitted in hard A4 format copy and on a CD/DVD
carrier, also containing contact information, name, and exact dates of shooting
the photographs - All digital versions of the photos must be in JPEG format, with image size no
less then 2592 x 1944 and resolution 72 dpi. - All copyrights of the photographs will belong to the organizers of the contest
- Photos must be submitted to IFES office: 10 Proshyan Street, Yerevan, 0019 RA,
Tel: (374 10) 26 83 57, 21 03 57 by February 16
Prizes
The winner of the month will receive a prize of 55 000 AMD and the runner up
will receive 35 000 AMD, both will receive honorable mention plaques from IREX.
All prizes must be shared with the photojournalist’s editor.
Exhibition
Best photos of the month will be displayed to public in the center of Yerevan on
Abovyan Street next to the Armenian Society for Friendship and Cultural
Relations with Foreign Countries and in the foyer of the United Nations
headquarters.
Photos done by the winners will be displayed at the World Press Freedom Day
exhibition and the National Gallery.
