The Reform-Timetable of the Monitoring Committee of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe

"The reformation of the election system and making the amendments to the assembly by the end of the year, in order to create the possibility to get ready for the next elections beginning from 2011" - these primary tasks, which the Armenian government pledged to realize, are mentioned in the time-table presented to the PACE Monitoring Committee.

During a talk with the 'Azatutyun' radio station the head of the PACE delegation in Armenia Davit Harutyunyan said he counted the readiness of the Armenian government to make reforms laudable and stressed that not the quantity but the quality of the reforms were important.

"The Council of Europe intently follows the realization of all the reforms announced by the government of Armenia," said Colombier.

From Davit Harutynyan's words, Colombier demanded a timetable from the government of Armenia regarding the reforms of the election system.

"The report of the Office of Democratic Institutions and Human Rights on the activity of judicial system should be analysed. A concrete timetable is anticipated for all the suggestions represented there."

One should remember that some suggestions concerning the realization of the reforms were introduced to the Council of Europe also on behalf of the Armenian Oppositional Forces and "Inheritance", what, as Davit Harutyunyan said, was not discussed separately, but "will be studied later in the context of the rest of the suggestions."

It is expected that after taking the first steps towards the realization of the reforms, presumably in April, the co-reporters on the issue of Armenia will be here in order to discuss the process and efficiency of the actions on the spot.
