The Case is Already at the Special Investigation Service. The Prisoner Stopped the Strike.
As a result of Lori Police Department Investigation Division investigative actions it has became cleart that 34-year-old Vanadzor resident Ashot Vardanyan's body injuries are the result of beating and hitting from the court bailiffs. For confirm the above mentioned, as well as for charging and instigating a criminal case, the case has been sent to Special Investigation Service.
34-year-old Vanadzor resident is suspected in attacking Lori Court of First Instance Stepanavan Residence Judge (now Administrative Court Judge) A. Tovmasyan and Court Bailiffs. Let us remind that on January 16 Ashot Harutyunyan started a strike expressing his complaint for his unfair arrest, as well as for investigative body's illegal actions.
10 days later prisoner from "Vanadzor" penitentiary stopped the strike.
"Since the case is at the Special Investigation Service, it has been stopped for not pressing the penitentiary and the court",- stated Ashot's lawyer Tigran Hayrapetyan.
On January 31, in the Court of Criminal Appeals a trial appeal was going to be held on the issue of the extension of the terms of his client's arrest, however, which did not take place as the employees from the prosecutor's and priest's office were not present.
"The investigative body did not present to court anything confirming the actions ascribed to my client. Court of The First Instance decided to arrest Ashot Harutyunyan and prolong the arrest period without any basis. The court accepted the oral statement of the investigator as a basis", says the lawyer Tigran Hayrapetyan.
According to him the individual's right for liberty and security has been violated, the legal procedure was ignored. "It turns out the courts are carrying out an order and based on oral statement of the investigator they prolong the imprisonment period", says the lawyer.
Let us remind that it is already 2.5 months that Ashot Harutyunyan is the prisoner of "Vanadzor" prison. In case the fault of the bailiffs is proven Ashot Harutyunyan will be viewed as a victim. "It is assumed that my client should be immediately released or at last precautionary measures should be replaced with the decision of signing an agreement of not leaving", adds the lawyer.
