Weekly review. MARCH 30- APRIL 5

During the last week a number of events happened in the internal political life of Armenia.

At the court of first instance of Kentron and Norq-Marash districts of Yerevan the trial against journalists Gagik Shamshyan and Gohar Veziryan continued. Both journalists are convicted for non-respectful attitude towards the court, but the cases are tried separately.

At the court Gagik Shamshyan announced that he had not treated the court with disregard and he has a video proving this. However, so far the court has relied only on the testimonies of court bailiffs.

A closed session of monitoring committee of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe was launched in Valencia, Spain. At the session the implementation progress of 1609, 1620, 1643 Resolutions on Armenia was discussed. Meanwhile, protest campaigns of individual tax drivers and shopping mall traders continue against the new taxation rules approved by the government.

RA President Serj Sargsyan visited Syunik marz for 2 working days and promised that the ore industry will work.

“Case of Seven” was separated into 6 parts because the court system was changed to the old one.

News was spread in media and political framework that on the threshold of Yerevan elders’ election one of the coalition parties has tried to buy the seats of the “Heritage” party in the electoral commission. According to other information Republican Party is abusing its administrative leverages.

And RA prior foreign Minister Vardan Oskanyan announced that Yerevan elders’ election is a missed opportunity.
