NON-GOVERNMENTAL ORGANIZATION
"A1+" Could Be Closed but the Way Couldn
A participant of the procession-demonstration on the occasion of the third anniversary of deprivation the frequency of "A1+" answered to the policeman who ordered not to
close the way.
The way wasn't closed at all. The traffic wasn't stopped from the building of "A1+" to the monument of Komitas, which according to the law "About organizing meetings, demonstrations and processions" might cause the interference of the right protectors. We must mention that the municipality has been informed about the procession. The demonstrators were walking in the right side of the street and cars were passing without any obstacles. Anyway the policemen were trying to interfere, demanding to walk on the terrace. They even had some conflicts with some demonstrators who were journalists, representatives of public organizations, politicians and citizens. The chief of the Police of Center was leading the police activities pushed them to the direction of the terrace crying on them and saying with honour: "I have always pushed and must push." And then he ordered to send the car, which was full of the microphones of "A1+" to the penalty area. But the reason was probably the presence of the leaders of the right protectors and media that first attempt was failed. A demonstration took place at the monument of Komitas. The member of organization committee "Defending "A1+" Isabelle Sargsian called to make that territory "the pulpit of free word", where the public will be introduced to all information, which it can't because the "A1+" isn't in the air. Publishing from the newspapers and network has been showed for 3 days. They have also promised to show such materials that any TV Company hasn't showed before. One of the authors of the law " About Television and Radio", the leader of the National Democratic Party Shavarsh Kocharian, the member of "Heritage" party Anahit Bakhshian and other participants made speeches. Later the head of "Justice" faction Stepan Demirchian and the secretary Viktor Dallakian joined to the demonstrators. They immediately signed under demands to "publish the list of free TV companies and to declare an open, transparent and fair competition". The leader of Republic party Aram Sargsian also joined to the 500 signatures. But let's return to the events of 2 of April. The young members of public organizations began paying guitar and singing after the speeches. The policemen as well as the officials of the National Security Service wearing civil clothes were shooting all these. And the order of Hovik Tamamian was realized after the demonstration and the car of "A1+" where were also microphones, posters, and necessary techniques for the demonstration were brought to the penalty area. We managed to know that the deputy chief of the Police Hovhannes Varian had ordered to keep the car in the penalty area for 10 days. Mr. Varian himself refused these affirmations in his interview stressing that he had come from the Netherlands just then and didn't know anything. But when they try to find out how and when it is possible to "set the car free" it was found out that the decision would also take Mr. Varian. Eventually thank to the right protectors and the protector of human rights Larisa Alaverdian it became possible to give the car back only. But the microphones, posters, megaphones etc. the police refused to give them back as the administrative execution was brought according to the first part of the 264 article of the code. The protector of human rights has sent a letter to the body that has brought the administrative execution asking to show the reasons. But now every day till 12 of April from 18:00 to 21:00 putting signatures will be continued.
