Probable Amendments To The Law On Military Service Were Discussed

On December 12th 2008, The Institute for War and Peace Reporting (IWPR) and “Civil Society Institute” NGO (CSI) organized a round-table discussion at CSI office. The topic of the discussion was possible amendments to the Law on military service. The amendments foresee removing the right to academic leave for students during military call-up.

Turkish foreign policy orientation: East or West

On December 11th 2008, a meeting at CSI was led by a young expert from the Political Development Research Center, Sergey Harutyunyan. In his presentation the speaker talked about Kemal's doctrine, foreign policies of Turkey at different time periods, Turkey's relations with neighbours and European Union. The discussion was held around the current internal and foreign policies and public opinions in Turkey.
