The right of persons with mental disorders to liberty, a fair trial and private life in the Armenian law and practice

The study was conducted by “Civil Society Institute” NGO in the frames of the project “Prevention of legal violations through awareness and legal initiatives” funded by the Norwegian Helsinki Committee. 

The reprt highlights the rights of persons with mental disorders to private life, to liberty and to a fair trial. It analyzes both the relevant legislation and the practices in Armenia. The analysis of the domestic laws and practices is then compared with relevant regional and international standards. In particular, the Study analyzes the domestic practices in light of the legal positions expressed by the European Court of Human Rights, Council of Europe instruments, as well as the legal instruments of the United Nations. The Study ends with a number of recommendations to the judiciary, policy-maker and psychiatric institutions.

Qualitative and quantiative survey: factors contributing to offending andreoffending in Armenia 

The survey was conducted with the financial support of the Council of Europe. This sociological study was aimed at identification of factors contributing to offending and reoffending in Armenia as well as assessment of the effects of sanctions and measures applied to offenders who committed less serious and moderately serious offences from the perspective of their impact on reoffending.
