Volunteerism as non-formal education

Civil Society Institute works with high school students conducting training on Peacebuilding, civic activism and volunteerism. The training has been organised in 5 schools of Yerevan and Ashtarak from September to December 2013 (# 77 secondary school after R. Miroyan, “Aregnazan” school and #1 special school in Yerevan, as well as #2 secondary school after S. Shaziz and Secondary school after V. Petrosyan in Ashtarak).

Letter of CSI: The falsifications of the pre-trial investigation should not remain unaddressed

“Civil Society Institute” NGO sent a letter to the Armenian Prosecutor General Gevorg Kostanyan drawing his attention to contradictions and falsifications of the pre-trial investigation in the criminal case against Aram Moughalyan, Robert Piloyan, Arthur Qlyan and Gagik Arakelyan who are charged with hooliganism and an attempt of setting a fire on a haystack.

CSI statement. Torture perpetrators shall not be granted amnesty

On 11 October 2013, the Court of First Instance of Kentron and Nork Marash Administrative Districts, chaired by Judge Mnatsakan Martirosyan, sentenced two operative officers of Central Police Division of the Yerevan Police Department Artak Barseghyan and Khachik Bakhbudaryan to 3 years of imprisonment for subjecting Robert Hovsepyan to ill-treatment with the aim to extort confession.

Serious Torture Prevention Action Plan is expected from the State

On  June 27, 2013 the Conference on “Refraining from Torture and the Right to Rehabilitation-2013” devoted to the International Day in Support of  Victims of  Torture took  place.

The event was organized jointly by the Armenian Human Rights Defender’s Office, “Civil Society Institute” (CSI) NGO and “Foundation against Violation of Law” (FAVL) NGO as a part of series of the events to mark the United Nations’ International Day in Support of  Victims of  Torture.
