CSI organized training about peace for school students

On October 21-23, 2015 Civil Society Institute organized three day training for secondary school students of N 77 school after R. Miroyan. During the training the school students gained skills on effective communication, talked about violence and its causes and sources, as well as about non-violence and peace, the global challenging problems and what can we do for sustainable peace. The participants also gained knowledge about Nobel Peace Prize, Alfred Nobel’s biography and activities, as well as Nobel Peace Laureates.

The Coalition for Trust is a platform for dialogue and cooperation for the youth in the region

On 16-17 September 2015 a two-day cross-border seminar “Coalition for Trust in the South Caucasus” was organized in Yerevan. More than 25 representatives of civil society from Armenia, Nagorno-Karabakh, Georgia, Abkhazia and South Ossetia participated in the event.

Coalition for trust is based on the principles of protection of human rights and peaceful resolution of conflicts.

Secretary-General of Norwegian Helsinki Committee, Bjørn Engesland who chaired the event said: "As a civil society we cannot and will not negotiate peace, that is the work of governments, but we can help build trust in and between societies, through co-operation, dialogue and respect. The participants urged such work to continue".

Civil Society Institute (CSI) NGO participated in the information fair of Europe Day to present two projects supported by the EU – “Exclusion of forced confessions as a ground for fair trial” and “Coalition for Rebuilding of Trust in the South Caucasus”.

The border community issues were discussed at the National Assembly of Armenia

Director of Civil Society Institute NGO Arman Danielyan participated in the parliamentary hearings on "Planning and implementation of civil protection'' organized by the Standing Committee on Defense, National Security and Internal Affairs of the National Assembly on March 27.

Human rights defenders from Armenia and Turkey call upon: "Open the border, recognize Armenian Genocide, start a dialogue".

The society in Turkey now casts a different look on the Armenian Genocide and speaks out more freely, rights defenders said at the Media Center hosted press conference on 23 April, 2015.
