On March 22-25, 2016 Civil Society Institute in cooperation with PAN Photo organised photo training workshops for school students from borderline communities of Tavush region, Armenia.
FIDH and its member organisation in Armenia Civil Society Institute (CSI) would like to draw the attention to the case of "New Armenia" activist Gevorg Safaryan as an example demonstrating the misuse of the Penal Code by the law enforcement in order to exert pressure on activists. Detained on New Year’s Eve during a peaceful assembly, G. Safaryan faces prolonged imprisonment on charges of violence against police under Article 316 of the Penal Code.

Paris-Yerevan, February 9, 2016. The constitutional referendum in Armenia on December 6, 2015, was marred by serious electoral fraud, reported FIDH member organisation in Armenia Civil Society Institute (CSI) in its recent observation report.
“Civil Society Institute” (CSI) NGO in cooperation with the British non-governmental organisation “Saferworld” has conducted Community-based Needs Assessment in ten borderline communities in Tavush region of Armenia. The results of the Community-based Needs Assessment were presented at the round-table discussion on “The Needs and Issues in Borderline Communities”, which was held on November 20, 2015 in Yerevan.
Civil Society Institute (CSI) NGO carried out observation mission of the Referendum on the Constitutional amendments on 6 of December 2015 in Armenia. The observation was carried out at #1 Precinct (35 polling stations) in Avan and Nor Nork administrative districts of Yerevan. CSI observers were present at the polling stations in two shifts from 7.30 am until the end of the vote count process and finalization of all paperwork. Throughout the day a hotline 080 080 804 has been operated to provide free of charge legal assistance.
On 2 December 2015 Civil Society Institute NGO in cooperation with “SIAS” Special International Academy of Security organized one-day training for 17 juveniles supervised by the Alternative Sanctions Enforcement Division (ASED) of the Penitentiary Department under the Ministry of Justice.
The aim of the training was to assist and contribute to re-socialization of juveniles in conflict with law.
